#TreatTuesday No.8 The Yankee Candle Addiction

I'm back again with another instalment of #TreatTuesday, dun dun duuuuuuun! I've very recently become a little bit obsessed with candles and more specifically the Yankee Candle range. I've been burning some of the smaller ones of late and they smell so good! My room has been smelling unbelievable right now and it lasts so long too, which I was pretty amazed by.

I do wish I had enough cash to buy a billion Diptyque candles, but I still haven't plucked up the courage to buy one yet. These candles were on offer too in a random shop, which makes my #TreatTuesday spending habits a little better! I think it was £9.00 for the large candle and then 98p for the little'uns - good times.

Any scents you would recommend from Yankee Candle?

Review: Soap & Glory Cosmetics

I mentioned in my recent #TreatTuesday that I'd picked up some Soap & Glory cosmetics to test out, so I thought I'd give you the lowdown on what I picked up.

Previously to these products I had only ever used their Sexy Mother Pucker lip gloss, which was a bit sticky and the tingling sensation was odd. I do however, already have a love for their bath and body products, with their Flake Away body scrub having a permanent spot in my collection. With all that in mind I plumped for the One Heck of a Blot Powder, the Solar Powder and the About Prime eye primer...

One Heck of a Blot. Usually I'm a Rimmel Stay Matte fan, but it's been leaving my make up a little cakey of late. This powder is much more finely milled and once applied looks like you just have the best skin ever. This is a must for anyone with oily skin, but even if you aren't a powder fan and want your makeup to last all day, this is for you. Seriously, impressed.

Solar Powder. You just can't beat a good bit of bronzer can you? This has a lighter powder on one side and a darker on the other. I've been mixing them together with a large brush and applying where the sun would naturally tan my face and it gives a subtle and natural glow. If you're into a barely there makeup look, but need a bit of warmth, this is a great product.

About Prime. I'll be honest, I kinda shoved this in my online basket at Boots cause it was 3for2, but I'm really pleased I did! I got the colour Bright Light (there's a dark one too) and it really brightens your eye lids and makes them more neutral, so whatever colour eyeshadow you apply stays true to its colour. My eyeshadow has lasted a lot longer using this and doesn't crease at all. I'm now officially converted to using eye primer.

Have you used any of the Soap & Glory cosmetics? Any recommendations?

Lipstick Kisses.

Shirt - h&m
Scarf - h&m
Leggings - h&m
Boots - m&s
Bracelet - Miss Selfridge

Taking outfit photos is quite a skill. One I haven't mastered! First off, it's hard to find a good spot (hence, the corner of the table ha!) and then not look like a weirdo when you start taking the photos (what has happened to my leg?). I couldn't include any photos of my face either because I have the biggest bags under my eyes ever at the moment and nobody got time for that.

Onto the outfit. This is one of my favorite shirts from h&m ever. I got it in a large so it's super baggy and so far, I've worn it all year round with leggings, jeans and even over the top of a bikini on holiday (not round town or something!). The back and sleeves are a jersey material and the front is more urm shirt material (?) so it's really comfy, but quite dressy too.

I hate these leggings because they go really baggy, but at 7am I couldn't be arsed to find any of my good ones, so we won't bother talking about those. My black boots have a mid chunky heel and are from M&S, I think old marks and sparks do some pretty decent boots, so i'd recommend checking them out if your price range is more £30 ish.

Finally, you cant see it very well, but I got this grey scarf with lipstick prints on from h&m today and it is so cute. Its one of those ones that's one big loop rather than a traditional scarf and if you know me well, you will know that scarfs are kinda my thing.

Hope you all have a good weekend! The weather is suppose to be shocking in the UK still (proof shown by my hair), so who knows what i will get up to...

#TreatTuesday No.7

Just a quick post today! I thought I would share some purchases I made yesterday and let you all know that #TreatTuesday is back in full force. If you're unsure what I'm talking about, I went through a pretty long period where I kept treating myself on a Tuesday after work (evidence here) and then decided it was worth making a series of it and encouraging you all to join. Then I got poor. Now, i'm back to my spending ways!

So, here's what I have bought this week and why...

Bumble & Bumble Thickening Dry Spun Finish. Blogger-hype made me do this. To be honest it upsets me to spend £20+ on a product like this, but after all the good reviews and my flat hair starring back at me, I felt like I had no choice.

Soap & Glory 'One Heck Of A Blot' Powder. I mentioned in my last FOTD post that my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Powder was letting me down and making my makeup look a little cakey. I've seen some good reviews of the Soap and Glory powder, so i thought it was worth a shot.

Soap & Glory Solar Powder Bronzer. Fell for the 3 for 2 deal didn't i? Oops. I decided to to grab a bronzer because my DiorSkin Nude bronzer (in action here) is going to be the next big thing that runs out. So far i'm pretty impressed with my bronzed look.

Soap & Glory 'It's About Prime' Eyeshadow Underbase. Love the names of the products! I picked this up because my skin is oily, but I've never actually bothered with eye primer. I noticed my shadow wasn't lasting as well on a more 'oily day' so thought this was worth checking out.

L'Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Solution (x2).  If you read my September Favorites then you will know that I really liked this Micellar Solution, hence the two new bottles of it! I would recommend getting a bottle of this, especially when its only £3.99!

L'Oreal Skin Perfection Velvety-soft Toner. I really wanted to get another bottle of the La Roche Posay Toner, but after spending twenty-something quid on a posh hairspray (thanks Bumble & Bumble!) I decided to opt for this after I loved the Micllar solution so much. At a more purse pleasing £3.99, I'm excited to see how well it works.

All of these products will feature in reviews and various other posts over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for those. In the meantime, if anyone wants to join in on #TreatTuesday send me links to your post or tag me on instagram (@Emmylouisejane) with the hashtag and a picture of your treats!

Stellar Berry.

Here is a run through what I am wearing on my face at the moment. This is a real go to look for me since we've hit the autumn months and there's some new products that I mentioned in my Maybelline Must-haves post, that I'm absolutely loving.

Base
17 Blemish BB Balm - I got this in medium and I really like it. It's thicker than many other BB creams I have used, more of a light foundation.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - I used this under my eyes and around my nose. I think it's a great concealer and more moisturizing than the Collection Lasting Perfection one.
Maybelline Cover Stick in Medium Beige - Ok, shut the front door they seem to have changed this to something else (here). Looks like I will have to find another concealer for spots now, but this is what I use this for. I don't like using the Wake Me Up Concealer as it's not thick enough and as a highlighting one I don't really want to highlight whatever is living on my chin!
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Right, I do love this. However, a few times recently it has looked a little cakey, which I think is when my skin is a little too oily. I've added the Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot powder to my Boots order to see how that is. Sorry, Rimmel.

Eyes
Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in Pomegranate - I love this so much. The color tattoo's are amazing and this is just so pretty for A/W. I applied it all over the lid (you can see it on the lid more here, I wasn't having a photogenic day at all today ha) and then used an angled brush to pop some on my lower lash line.
2True Effortless Eye Liner - I use this all the time and it's only £1.99 people! £1.99!
Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara - I've mentioned this before, most mascaras are alright to me and this is much the same. I like the big brush on it, if that helps!
Dior Powder Eyebrow Pencil - Not technically my eyes, but near to them I use this eyebrow pencil which is really good. I massively recommend getting a pencil matched because I did have my brows too dark before.

Everythang else
Diorskin Nude Tan Bronzer in Honey 001 - This is a great bronzer and I've had it for ages, despite using it every day. If you want to invest in some higher end makeup, but the price tag upsets you, I would suggest getting a powder based product as they last so long.
Mac Plum Foolery Blush - Talked about this way too much. Buy it, buy it now. Full review here
Mac Cream Color Base in Shell - This is a great highlight for under the brow and above the cheekbones and it stays there all day.
Maybelline Colorsensational Shine Gloss in Stellar Berry - This is so pretty. It literally lasts so well too and isn't sticky, which is my pet hate with lip gloss.

American Girls.

Jacket - H&M
Jeans - Topshop Leigh
Shirt - H&M (old)
Scarf - Gift from Italy
Shoes - Gordon Scott
Bracelet - Miss Selfridg
e
Ring - Primark

I've finally decided to post an outfit of the day here, despite the fact that I don't really consider myself particularly fashion forward. I've been wearing some of the new pieces I bought in this haul quite a lot recently and I thought it was probably good to showcase them in action.

This blazer from H&M only cost me £30 and I have definitely already got the moneys worth out of it. I've had loads of compliments too and have been able to wear it in the day like this and in the evening too, so it's become a very staple item. I got the shirt quite a while ago too and again, I have 100% got my moneys worth by being able to wear it in the day and evening too.

These jeggings/jeans from Topshop are my favorites and I keep thinking I need to get some other pairs. I have practically the same pair from Zara, but they go so baggy after being in the wash. These babies however never seem to change at all, totally recommend.

My shoes are like slightly platformed loafers by Gordon Scott and oh my gawd are they comfortable. They also look really 'cool' with pretty much everything too. I decided to invest in a pair of shoes because I was getting a bit tired of feeling like I was walking barefoot everywhere with all the thin soled cheap options available on the high street.

Now, I don't know about anybody else, but since the weather has got colder I think I have subconsciously been munching my way toward a 'winter coat' without realizing. In a bid to get my thighs a bit smaller I have been doing these Youtube videos (ok, once so far) by Tiffany Rothe with my sister (personal fav here). On top of this, one of my colleagues has given me the Insanity Workout on DVD (if you don't know what it is click here), which i'm thinking of giving a go, but i'm scared ha! Has anyone tried it?!

Finally, I rediscovered Counting Crows this afternoon and started listening to their Hard Candy album. I used to listen to American Girls on repeat when I was younger, but haven't thought about the song in years. Good old bit of nostalgia on a Friday!

Getting to know me...

It's funny how different you look with a bunch of different make up on! All hail the cringe montage of my face. I promise it's appropriate though, as this is a post with some facts about me, in case you were interested...

1. Are you named after anyone?

No, I think the Doctor in the hospital said 'Emma' is a nice name.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Not sure, I do get a little emotional when I see things on tv though like I get that little throat lump thing if anyone looks upset or their having a tough time.

3. Do you have kids?

Nope.

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

I think so yeah. I'm pretty confident that I'm a good person and I do get on with the majority of people even when their characteristics are very different to mine.

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

When it's effective! In a jokey way.

6. Will you ever Bungee Jump?

No, nada, nine. I'm not into any of that stuff, I think the euphoric feeling comes from realizing your still alive and as I know I am right now, i'm good ha.

7. What's your favorite cereal?

Tricky. Cereal is da bomb. It's probably easier to say that sugar puffs aren't really my favorite.

8. What's the first thing you notice about people?

I always look at girls hair, makeup and clothes, but in a hhmmm that looks nice or i wonder where she got that kind of vibe. I probably look at girls more than lads!

9. What is your eye colour?

Blue.

10. Scary movie or happy endings?

Happy endings. There's not always enough in real life, so movies need to make up for it (deep).

11. Favorite smells?

Cinnamon buns (a particular bakery in London), aftershave and fresh cotton.

12. Summer or winter?

I heart Christmas and all things Christmas related, but I love summer for many reasons. Either way though you can always drink Pimms (check out Winter Pimms here).

13. Computer or television?

I love a good TV series or film, but if i didn't have a computer I wouldn't be able to blog!

14. What's the furthest you've ever been from home?

America i guess! I've been to LA, Vegas and Arizona. Other than holidays, I did live in Bournemouth at University for years and I had to go to Edinburgh on my Uni placement.

15. Do you have any special talents?

None, I'm always searching for my talent, but so far nothing.

16. Where were you born?

1990.

17. What are your hobbies?

Blogging, eating, drinking, going out with friends and family and running (occasionally).

18. Do you have any pets?

I have two mischievous cats called Finn and Perry (we did not name them) who we adopted and they are super cute, but a little mental.

19. Favorite movie?

Midnight in Paris.

20. Do you have any siblings?

One younger sister and an older brother.

If you fancy doing this post, I would love to read your answers! Make sure you comment with a link and I will be sure to check out the post.

Maybelline Must-haves

It's so gloomy today, so apologies but my photos are dark and rubbish! #bloggerproblems As you have probably figured from the title of this post, this is all about Maybelline. I've purchased a few things lately and I'm so impressed with them that they deserve a post all to their darn selves.

Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo. I love these so much. I have the colours Pink Gold, On and On Bronze and Metallic Pomegranate and I use them all the time. Metallic Pomegranate is the newest addition to my collection and it is like Autumn/Fall in a little pot. They last for ages and are so easy to apply, you can just use your fingers to blend. If you are always in a bit of a morning rush/love your bed too much, these are perfect for you cause you look like you've done your makeup properly with one sweep.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Varnish. I have the colour Coral Craze, which was utilised a fair amount during the summer months this year. It's a great nail varnish, the formula goes on really well, it dries quickly and they have loads of amazing colours that I desperately want.

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick. These lipsticks are like a cross between a lipstick and a balm, so super moisturising and smooth. I really like the packaging for these lipsticks, they look a lot more expensive than they are. I have the colour Electric Orange, which is a bright orange/coral, which was another staple lipstick during the summer months for me.

Clockwise: Metallic Pomegranate, Pink Gold, Pink Punch, Electric Orange, Stellar Berry, On and On Bronze

Maybelline Baby Lips. Quite a hyped product in the blogger world, so I had to grab myself one! I picked up Pink Punch, which is a baby pink balm. I've had loads of compliments when I've been wearing it, which considering it's just a tinted lip balm is great. It does all of the obvious things a lip balm does, but with a super pigmented colour, so you look more made up. The best bit though? The smell! ohmagahd it smells good my friends!

Maybelline Colorsensational Shine Gloss. I got this the other week on a whim, because it was 3 for 2 in Boots and I was going to get another of the colorsensational lipsticks. However, the colour of the gloss really caught my eye and when I swatched it, it didn't feel sticky or look to glittery so in the basket it went! I am so in love with this gloss right now I can't tell you. It feels really moisturising like the lipsticks, its not sticky at all and the lasting power is pretty amazing. I can see my collection getting a little bigger already...

What do you guys think of the Maybelline range? Do you have any favourites? I'm going to post a makeup look using the pomegranate colour tattoo and the Stellar Berry gloss this week, so stay tuned for that Autumn/Fall inspired look!

Bedroom Inspiration

Hi guys! Apologies for being a little MIA on the blog this week - sadface. We launched a new project at work this week, so I've had no spare time - sadface. Boo to real life jobs ay?

This blog post is a quick one, but I have some 'proper' ones planned that I will hopefully get sorted this weekend. In the meantime, here's some bedroom inspo I have been pinning on my Pinterest account. Both my Mum and Dad managed to get some epic jobs down in London - exciting - and they are kindly letting me, my brother and sister stay in the family pad! Of course, that means I am totally taking over their old bedroom, so I've begun thinking about how to decorate...

I really like these cosy-i-don't-want-to-get-out-of-bed styles and I need to be careful as my boyfriend is moving in, so I can't go heavy on the florals or girly frills. I also really want some giant desk lamps - too cool!

Do you like any of these ideas and/or do you have any boards on pinterest that I can steal ideas from!?

Recently Bought #1

I have a shopping addiction. Admitting a problem is the first stage of recovery right? I feel better already! I've been shopping in Birmingham and Worcester recently and thought it would make a good blog post if I showed y'all what I had been splashing my cash on. I love reading other peoples hauls and seeing their recent purchases, so hopefully this will be enjoyable, although I don't think I'm particularly fashionable....

Ralph Lauren Check & Faux Fur Coat - Tkmaxx
Leather Sleeve Blazer - H&M

Let's just talk about this coat for a minute, cause I'm in love. Some of you will have seen me post this on my Instagram already. I got in in Birmingham last weekend from Tkmaxx for £79.99 instead of £299.99, now that's a bargain! It's so on trend with the checks and fur and is kinda making me look forward to those freezing cold days. Next up is this blazer from H&M, which looks a but shit in my photo, but it's so nice in real life! I've had lots of compliments and it only cost me £30, which I think is really good for how expensive it looks.

Cat Dress - H&M
Basic Top - H&M

This dress is brilliant. I got this in the H&M sale for £7 i think and it looks really good with some black boots for the A/W. We have a causal dress code at work, so anything that's easy to throw on at 7:30 in the morning is a winner for me. I also got this basic top and one in grey from H&M. I really like these tops, they are only £7 and they feel so soft and are the perfect length for throwing over leggings. H&M are doing a conscious fashion scheme at the moment where you can get £5 off when you spend £30 if you donate a carrier bag of old clothes and/or material (click here for more details), makes me feel better about buying more!

White shirt - Primark
Fluro Cardigan - ASOS

I'm such a sucker for a shirt. All my friends will tell you that my shirt collection is a little ridiculous! I got this one and a grey-ish one from Primark to tuck into shorts and shirts (it's a little too short for leggings) and for £8 (i think), you can't go too wrong. This cardigan is from ASOS, I saw it on a few blogs and it's so cute. It's a blazer style, so it really dresses up your daytime outfit without being too OTT.

I splurged £85 to get a decent pair of shoes from Jones rather than more shitty ones that are too flat. They look a bit weird in this picture because they are suede, but I assure you they are lovely and black. I also picked up some little pop socks from Primark for these shoes and my vans, as they are too low to wear normal socks.

Coat hangers - Primark

Ok, so this might be random until you see this post from Miss Budget Beauty and then you will understand why I needed these. I got like 4 packs of 10 and I definitely recommend - it's amazing how much space I have in my wardrobe now.

Loreal EverRiche Shampoo & Conditioner - Boots

This is on offer in Boots at the moment, so I decided to get some for when my current shampoo and conditioner runs out. I've seen this collection getting a lot of love on other blogs, so I'm interested to see if they live up to the hype. if you're keen to try them out, it's two for £12 in Boots at the mo!

Room Diffusers - H&M

I never realized how expensive these things can be before, so I've been waiting for some to come on a deal or something as I don't really want to pay too much money ha. H&M have some really nice smelling ones in the sale for £4 each at the moment, so I decided to snap up the cotton flower and pure vanilla ones.

If you guys like these kinds of posts, let me know in the comment box as I might make them more regular. It's not hard, as I'm always buying something - oops!

September Favorites

Hello October! Time flies when you're having fun and all that. Here's a look at what I was loving during the month of September...

Urban Decay B6 'blah blah' Prep Spray - I have been using this all month and my skin looks so much clearer, is way less oily and all my makeup stays in place! Love, love, love. See a full review here.

Diorskin Nude BB Creme - At the beginning of September I made a dangerous appointment at the Dior counter after hearing a few good reviews about this BB Creme. I like to have a lighter base option in my makeup bag as my skin doesn't tend to get too spotty (i'll wake up with a corker tomorrow now!), so a light coverage is usually good for me on a daily basis. I have the colour 002 and I have to say I am really impressed with the coverage and lasting power. I've been using for over a month now and have been really liking it. My only criticism, it's only 30ml and it costs £30.00 - we shall see how long it lasts!

Dior Powder Eyebrow Pencil - Whilst at the Dior counter, I also got this powder eyebrow pencil in Sand. I was using a random powder before, but it was definitely too dark for me and kind of had a red tone to it (oops). This is much better and it also looks more natural than the powder option I was using before. I would really recommend this particular pencil over any high street ones so you can get matched and because it's a powder based pencil it gives a more natural look than a standard pencil in my opinion.

LOreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution - First off, this is only £4.99! And, I think i got it half price - amazing. I've been using this as a cleanser in my skincare routine by placing a small amount of product onto a cotton pad to remove my makeup. It doesn't get rid of my eye makeup in 'one sweep' like they all claim, but my makeup is removed without a struggle and it's very refreshing! I have a feeling I will always have a bottle in my collection.

The Body Shop Watermelon Pasteque Body Lotion - I think Pasteque is French for Watermelon, but who knows! I don't think this is actually available at The Body Shop now for some reason, but you can't go wrong with any of their products in my mind. This is a very light moisturizer that goes into your skin super quick, so no wrestling with you clothes once it's on like Ross and those leather trousers. I like the look of the Mango Whip Body Lotion too.

Denman Tangle Tamer - I've been using this so much, despite the dolphin print! Check out the full review here

Hugo Boss Jour Pour Femme - My mum got this mini version with her new perfume and it's now mine (thanks Mum). I can't describe fragrances well, but it's apparently 'an elegant floral fruity fragrance inspired by the first light of day'. Deep stuff there. It smells real good!

Monki Leopard Print Bag - Unfortunately, I don't think you can get this bag now either! I got this at the end of August and have been using it all month to brighten up my outfit. These envelope style bags are surprisingly spacious and great for both the day and evening. Check out the Monki shop here for all the new styles.

Hope you all enjoyed reading my favorites, link yours below!
