Get ready with me: NYE

It's a little weird that we all enjoy watching get ready with me videos in the world of blogging isn't it? Sometimes I wonder if there should be a YouTubers anonymous 'My names Emmy and I'm addicted to get ready videos, skincare routines and seeing what people got for Christmas'. As I am not a YouTuber, I thought I would share some pictures from my pre-new year's eve and tell you what products etc I used...

Obviously it all began with me in my pj's, but not just any pj's obviously. Christmas pyjamas!

After managing to peel myself from my bed, I hopped in the shower. My grandparents visited from Spain over the Christmas period and left their Boots Ingredients Camomile & Lemon Balm Shampoo behind (thanks g-rents! They read my blog..), which is such a brilliant cleansing shampoo if you have been using lots of rich products on your locks. I find it works super well with a rich conditioner like the L'Oreal EverRiche one as they really balance each other out.

I then used my trusty Soap and Glory Flake Away scrub and woke myself up with the Citrus Burst shower gel from Imperial Leather.

I then gave my skin some care and attention! I started by using my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, which is something I got for Christmas. I absolutely love it and keep wondering why I was so late on the bandwagon with this one. My skin is so clean and soft after using it and I would fully recommend.

Next up, I used my favorite clay mask by Una Brennan, spritzed with my Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic and moisturized with this Vitamin E cream from Superdrug. I really like the cream as it's just the right consistency to really hydrate, but not sit on your skin and you only need a small amount.

I also mustered up the courage to light my Diptyque Roses candle (they cost so much money!) before I continued the beauty regime. I used the Sanctuary Creme Souffle Body Cream all over, accept for my legs where I used this Superdrug Dry Skin Relief Cream. I suffer really badly from irritated skin on my legs after shaving and in the Winter I always get heat rashes from being out in the cold and then heading into a warm house. If anyone else gets this, please suggest solutions below as I would love to hear them!

For my makeup I used the following products...

Base
Urban Decay B6 Complexion Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray - mentioned this so much. It's still going guys! Full review here.
Revlon Photoready Foundation in Shell - A random purchase that I am super happy with. I love the packaging of this product, it feels pretty high-end and the pump doesn't shoot out loads of foundation. It's quite a illuminating foundation, which for someone with oily skin is scary. However, the finish is gorgeous and it really stays put all day. So impressed!
Revlon Colorstay Concealer in light - I wanted to replace my Rimmel Wake me up concealer because although it was good for under the eyes, I wasn't completely happy with the result. This is a little thicker and so far I am preferring it. I've also been able to use it on blemishes, so no need for two separate products despite it being a light colour. I'll do a full Revlon makeup review soon I think!

Eyes
Dior Powder Eyebrow Pencil - My go-to eyebrow pencil, highly recommend.
17 Metallic Eye Pencil in Gold - I don't think they do these anymore, which is a shame. If you like it, have a look at the Barry M ones
2True Liquid Liner - Always use this one.
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Nude - I love these and this is the best for getting rid of redness on the waterline and not being too harsh like a white liner.
Barry M Dazzle Dust in 24 - These are perfect for the party season!
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara - A great full volume mascara

Everythang else
Soap & Glory Solar Powder - Full review here.
Mac Cream Color Base in Shell - Love this as a highlight under the brow and on the top of the cheekbones.
Sleek Blush in Coral - Fallen back in love with this of late. Full review here.
The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Lip Butter - This has been saving me all winter. Big love.
Natural Collection Sheer Natural in 'Sand' - probably my fav nude lipstick.

This was the end result...

It hasn't shown up too amazingly here, but I placed the Barry M glitter just vertically down the centre of my eyelids, so it wasn't too in your face. For my hair, I just straightened and wore to one side.

I painted my nails using Nails Inc Old Bond Street which is an amazing bronzy gold and then used a Barry M Limited Edition from Superdrug (no 334) on my accent nails.

I wore my Lipsy London Glam fragrance which smells amazing, is great for your handbag and only £25. And then my new baby. This beautiful Olivia Burton watch, that I bought from The Dressing Room. I'm going to give it's own post v.soon because I was so impressed with the site and the watch! If you do buy something, sign up to their newsletter first to get 10% off.

I popped my Y.A.S Dress on, annoyingly on sale now!

I took my last instagram selfie of 2013 (rings from ASOS) and hit the bar with my best friends...

I usually hate new year's eve and all it's hype, but as we ended up on a spontaneous night out I had such a good evening. So much so, I appear in pretty much no photos during the evening as I was dancing so hard to the well executed 90's playlist. You can't stop a 90's kid from dancing when their jam is on!

Hope you all had a glorious NYE and best wishes for 2014!

Enchanted Smoke.

Oh the weather outside is frightful...too early? I am feeling very christmassy already (I know I am one of those people) and this makeup look is quite festive and lovely for Christmas day or any festive gatherings! Here is what is on my face...(some of its repetitive, if you saw my last fotd here but there are some new things)

Base
17 Blemish BB Balm - I've recently repurchased this and think it's fab!
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - I used this under my eyes and around my nose. I think it's a great concealer and more moisturising than the Collection Lasting Perfection one. However, I think I need something a little thicker, I've heard good things about Mac and Bobby Brown.
Maybelline Cover Stick in Medium Beige - I need to get another concealer as this has been discontinued I think. As mentioned, I think my Christmas money will be going to Mac or Bobby Brown.
Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Powder - Full review here. I bloody love this powder!

Eyes
Soap & Glory It's About Prime eye shadow primer - Full review here. Why wasn't I using eye primer before?! That is all.
17 Trio Eyeshadow in Enchanted Smoke - I used the shimmery purple all over the lid and then the dark purple in the crease. You can read a better review in my October favourites  but for the short version, this is brilliant and it's been my most used eyeshadow options (there's a gorgeous green too) all month.
Rimmel White Eyeliner - Using a hint of white eyeliner really brightens your eyes and hides any redness you may suffer from, especially in the cold winter months! I think the Rimmel eyeliners are both long lasting and affordable.
17 Eye Kohl Eyeliner in Purple - I am so obsessed with coloured eyeliner of late. Black is so last season to me right now! This is beautiful and looks great with purple or green eyeshadows. The perfect combo for the eyeshadow trio.
Dior Powder Eyebrow Pencil - My go-to eyebrow pencil, highly recommend.
Dior Iconic Overcurl Mascara - Small stuff is cute. I got this free when I got my eyebrow pencil and a BB cream a while back and have just starting using it. It's a fab mascara, but it's £23 which is annoying for a mascara...

Everythang else
Mac Plum Foolery Blush - Talked about this way too much. Buy it, buy it now. Full review here
Soap & Glory Solar Powder - Full review here. It's a multi-shade bronzer that gives a very natural colour. Not sure it's my favourite bronzer ever, but it's worth having in the collection.
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick in Fig (123) - Love this colour! It's not too bright or dark, just that perfect in between. Perfect for Christmas and it makes your teeth look nice and white too, bonus!

Phew! That's it. These posts take longer than you expect to write up, don't they? Also, I hope I'm not the only one that has to take 50+ photos to get one or two decent ones where I don't look asleep, weird or creepy...

Stellar Berry.

Here is a run through what I am wearing on my face at the moment. This is a real go to look for me since we've hit the autumn months and there's some new products that I mentioned in my Maybelline Must-haves post, that I'm absolutely loving.

Base
17 Blemish BB Balm - I got this in medium and I really like it. It's thicker than many other BB creams I have used, more of a light foundation.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - I used this under my eyes and around my nose. I think it's a great concealer and more moisturizing than the Collection Lasting Perfection one.
Maybelline Cover Stick in Medium Beige - Ok, shut the front door they seem to have changed this to something else (here). Looks like I will have to find another concealer for spots now, but this is what I use this for. I don't like using the Wake Me Up Concealer as it's not thick enough and as a highlighting one I don't really want to highlight whatever is living on my chin!
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Right, I do love this. However, a few times recently it has looked a little cakey, which I think is when my skin is a little too oily. I've added the Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot powder to my Boots order to see how that is. Sorry, Rimmel.

Eyes
Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in Pomegranate - I love this so much. The color tattoo's are amazing and this is just so pretty for A/W. I applied it all over the lid (you can see it on the lid more here, I wasn't having a photogenic day at all today ha) and then used an angled brush to pop some on my lower lash line.
2True Effortless Eye Liner - I use this all the time and it's only £1.99 people! £1.99!
Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara - I've mentioned this before, most mascaras are alright to me and this is much the same. I like the big brush on it, if that helps!
Dior Powder Eyebrow Pencil - Not technically my eyes, but near to them I use this eyebrow pencil which is really good. I massively recommend getting a pencil matched because I did have my brows too dark before.

Everythang else
Diorskin Nude Tan Bronzer in Honey 001 - This is a great bronzer and I've had it for ages, despite using it every day. If you want to invest in some higher end makeup, but the price tag upsets you, I would suggest getting a powder based product as they last so long.
Mac Plum Foolery Blush - Talked about this way too much. Buy it, buy it now. Full review here
Mac Cream Color Base in Shell - This is a great highlight for under the brow and above the cheekbones and it stays there all day.
Maybelline Colorsensational Shine Gloss in Stellar Berry - This is so pretty. It literally lasts so well too and isn't sticky, which is my pet hate with lip gloss.

FOTD: Bank Hol Weekend

Hola! I'm back from Spain and I am on it with my blogging! I posted twice whilst I was away (here and here) and there will hopefully be a lot more going on here at Life by Emmy. I'm not really up to much today as just come back off holiday and want to stay pretty chilled, but here's a run through today's make up.

I prepped my skin with Urban Decay B6 Complexion Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray, which I recently got and am loving (full review soon). After that I used Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in True Ivory and then Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Medium on any blemishes. I am so spotty at the moment, my skin got really clogged from the sun cream on holiday and because I have oily skin I swear it's just 10 x worse! Sad face.

Under my eyes, I used Benefit Erase Paste in Fair (full review here) to brighten up those sleepy eyes. I filled in my brows using Jelly Pong Pong's Wakeup Makeup Palette which I have had forever. I wouldn't actually recommend it, I only use it for the mirror and brow powder, which is actually way too dark, need a blonde one!

After that I moved onto my eyes, where I used Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'On and On Bronze' which I adore. On top of that I used the dark bronze colour from The Body Shop 4 colour eye shadow palette in smoky moonstone (see more here think they've discontinued it). This just intensifies the bronze tone and makes it easier to blend out. I lined my eyes with Mac Tarnish Eye Kohl which is a dark green colour and makes a great change from black or brown. For lashes I used Maybelline The Mega Plush Mascara, I personally think all the Maybelline mascaras are pretty decent.

On the rest of my face (quite a lot of make up huh!?) I powdered with Rimmel Stay Matte in Transparent, bronzed with Dior Skin in Nude Tan 001, highlighted with Sephora Baked Luminizer in Light Beam 02 and flushed those cheeks with Mac Plum Foolery (full review here). Finally, I gave my lips a bit of colour with Rimmel Apocalypse Luna.

Hope you all have a fabulous bank holiday, if you want to see some snaps from my hol head to my instagram because i only took a few with it being a visit to my g-rents. Ta-ta my friends!
