Current Favorites

I missed my November favorites, so thought I would round up what I have been loving lately...

Essie Favorites for Fall Duo. I did a post here on my recent essie purchases, as these were my first encounter with the brand. I think they are quite expensive for a nail varnish when you can get some really great ones for a few pounds, but they are seriously amazing. They are one of the best formulas I have ever used, hands down. I can see the beginning of a huge collection already...(this duo here looks too good).

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick in Fig (123). I used this in a recent fotd post here, and I absolutely love it! It's so perfect for Christmas and is a lovely non-in-your-face red. I've worn it a few times to work too by blotting it with my fingers and then putting a small amount of lip balm over the top. Highly recommend! 

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil. My skin has been in really good condition lately and I think this cleansing oil has a lot to do with it. I've been using it once or twice a week and I have had minimal breakouts, my pores look smaller and I've managed to ditch the foundation for just a bit of concealer and bronzer. I talked about this and the clay mask in more depth here, but I'll be sure to share my current skin routine soon.  

VO5 Volume Boost Weather Resistant Gel Spray.  This was just lying around my house, so since it was bought I think the packaging has been re-designed. I picked this up randomly the other day and spritzed it through my roots and then a little all over, flipped my head upside down and blow dried to discover gigantic hair. I wasn't expecting it to do much so blow-dried it a bit out of control and my hair was huge! I've been using it in a controlled mannar for a while now and I am very impressed.

Christmas! I've used the candle and heart made of bells to represent Christmas, which is my absolute favorite time of year. I'm one of those annoying people who get Christmassy in November and secretly sneak a mince pie and listen to a Christmas song way before December. I've been doing all my Christmas shopping, lighting gorgeous candles (this one was a gift from my friend Jess, I can't find the exact link, but NEXT have loads of great candles) and making things look festive! (the bell decoration was from B&M Bargains). I just love the whole season!

Falling for essie

Yawn. Everyone loves essie-blah-blah-blah. Stay with me guys, stay with me. This is actually my first brush with essie as a brand. Despite the hype their nail varnishes always seem to have, they are more expensive than other options and I don't know why, I've just never jumped on board. Until now.

Let me just paint the picture (so many nail varnish puns, just one post), I am a terrible nail varnish applier. I'm one of those people whose varnish goes gloopy, always chips and more than likely has a tiny hair from a jumper molded in for good measure. Glitter is my friend. It always goes wrong and my models own glitter polish covers it up. But, this has changed and I have essie to thank...

I picked up their 'favorites for fall' duo cause it was quite a good deal (i think, no link!) and I really liked the colours. Chinchilly is a soft grey and Bahama Mama is a berry pink/red. On Monday, I applied two coats (in mins, they went on so well!) of Chinchilly and Seche Vite to finish and it has only just chipped away. It's Friday people. FRIDAY. To say I am amazed after my usual love-hate-why-the-mother-are-you-always-chipping relationship with nail varnish is an understatement. So much so that I utilised this week's 3for2 in Boots to get the essie apricot cuticle oil, which so far I also love. Hello, November favs.

NOTD: Models Own Scented Banana Split & Sunset Chillout + Seche Vite Review

Longest blog post title ever. This is a pretty short post though, don't worry...

I am always buying new nail varnishes and the Models Own Scented Banana Split & Sunset Chillout from the HeadKandi collection are my most recent purchases. I don't know about you guys, but I am LOVING Models Own varnishes so much right now. They are my go to polish of recent because the colours are amazing and I think the quality matches up too.

They recently bought out a collection of scented (oh yes, old school scratch and sniff!) pastel varnishes and the yellow really caught my eye. I don't own any yellow polishes and I thought this colour was just perfect for Spring/Summer. The colour comes out really well, but you will need two coats so make sure you go for a thin one on your first application. Also, the scent is just on the lid of the varnish, not the varnish itself (sad times), so don't start sniffing the polish. I'm not saying I did that or anything...

The Models Own HeadKandi Sunset Chillout varnish is not too dissimilar from Freak Out which I featured in a previous NOTD post. I think they are really versatile varnishes, but if you have one of the mirror ball varnishes I wouldn't buy this unless you want a different colour because they are basically the same - doh! I also started painting my nails and forgot to leave my ring finger unpolished as I was going to do one heavily glittered nail, not what I actually did. I tried to do a slightly more ombre effect than my previous post, but I'm not very good or patient, looks alright though!

Finally, I thought I would briefly mention that I purchased the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat off Amazon earlier on this month after hearing a lot of good reviews. This is the first time I have used it and I have to say it dried my nails super quick and it also went on very smoothly and didn't ruin my nail varnish. Sometimes I find top coats can get stuck to all the previous layers, especially if you have two coats and a glitter like this nail look. Overall, I'm pretty impressed and I don't think it smells too bad either (one of the negatives I had heard!).

NOTD: Blue Moon & Freak Out! Review

I bought this Barry M 'Blue Moon' nail varnish the other day as I thought it was just the perfect colour for Spring, if Spring fancies making an appearance that is! It's a really pretty pale blue that goes on almost translucent with a hint of colour on the first coat, so you definitely need two coats (I just typed cats and then coasts instead of coats...nightmare). I got it on offer in Boots, which I think was £1 off and for such a bargain it's a great nail polish.

Although I liked the colour on its own, I am so bad at painting nails it's like a crime or something. I just don't have the patience to get it done neatly and then I always touch it when it's not dry, which is probably why I don't post many NOTD posts. If like me your talents lye elsewhere then you need Models Own 'Freak Out!' in your collection. It has big and small flakes of glitter in it meaning you can hide any mistakes pretty easily and the clear part acts as a pretty decent top coat. They have loads of different colours too, so you can pick one with glitter pieces to match the majority of your collection (or all of them, I won't judge you).
