A Winter Walk

You can't beat a stroll in the Winter sunshine after so many turkey filled days. Here's some snaps from a walk with my rents...

Winter lips.

I love how festive everyone looks during the winter months and a sweep of colour across your lips is a great way to spice up your everyday makeup ready for the Christmas party season. These are my favorite lip products right now...

Maybelline Color Sensational Shine Gloss in Stellar Berry. I literally wear this so much! I am one of those avid lip gloss haters as well, so this is quite surprising. I cant stand them if they are too shiny or sticky in anyway possible. This gloss is just perfect. I don't notice it on my lips and when it starts to fade after a cocktail or two (ok, maybe more...), there's still a nice stain on your lips. Love, love, LOVE. You can actually see the colour better in this fotd post, it's raining so hard here my room is like a cave!

Rimmel Kate Moss 01. Everyone needs a classic red lip, it's like the law. The Rimmel lipsticks from Kate Moss have a great formula and are really true to their colour. 01 is a classic red Hollywood shade, which makes you look super glamorous.

17 Lasting Fix Lipstick in Pink Power. Personally, I think bright and bold just works during the holiday season. Some people aren't a fan of a red lip and feel more comfortable in a pink shade. This lipstick from 17 is a great bright pink, that isn't too Barbie-esque. It also lasts forever and is less than a fiver!

Estee Lauder Pure Color in Fig. I'm not sure if they still do this particular shade, but it's basically a less in your face red. I like to wear these sorts of shades in the daytime as they give your makeup a little somethin-somethin, but you don't have to keep re-applying or worry that you look to done-up.

Miners Lip Colour in Mulled Wine. Such a Christmas appropriate name! This lipstick is a metallic-brown-bronze-kinda shade that I got in a Glossybox a while ago. I probably wouldn't pick it myself, but I really like the colour once applied. It's almost the best option if you don't want a nude lip or something too loud and bright either. I don't think this is easy to get hold of to be honest, but No7 have some great brown-nude shades too.

What are your go-to colours this season? Also, how hard is it to take this many photos of your own face?! The more I took the more psychotic or dead behind the eyes (sometimes a combo) I looked ha.

Winter Warmers you can't do without

So this is a guest post that I hope you will enjoy! Cherrie has written it and it focuses on higher end products which you won't see much of on my blog - from me - because I don't have that kind of money (unfortunately!). If you're like me we can still dream can't we? Enjoy!

The chilly winter weather means that warm outerwear is essential at this time of year. Accessories that keep you cosy whilst looking stylish should be top of every girls’ list, yet this is also the time to have fun with fashion: the Christmas season is perhaps the only time when the odd novelty item is permitted!

The basis of your look though, should ooze chic, and what better way to achieve this than with designer labels? For unique pieces head to Avenue 32, an online store featuring a selection of up-and-coming and established names. Animal prints seem never to go out of fashion, and this scarf by Lara Bohinc is a great way to show off the trend. This artisan number is not too bulky, meaning it will be a great transitional piece as the New Year brings with it the changing seasons.
A snug hat is the perfect way to keep warm and will help protect hair from any snowfall we might experience too. Look for a hat which keeps your ears warm, like this fur beanie by Hockley. The supple material can be pulled down around the ears, and sits elegantly on the head, whilst adding a bit of fun to a look with its traditional bobble feature. The icy green colour is winter-appropriate and would look fab matched with a handbag in a similar minty tone.
Those looking to work more humour into their style won’t go far wrong with this cute fox scarf, by Donna Wilson. Resembling a fox pelt, this fun animal-friendly number is created from 100% lambswool and knitted in Scotland. Wrapping yourself in this cosy scarf each morning is sure to bring a smile to your face, and whilst the grey version keeps things low-key, the bright red alternative is sure to turn heads.
Trying to text and email on the go can be an impossible task with freezing fingers, so invest in some high quality gloves this season. Those which keep hands toasty and also allow for movement are best, so look for slim-fitting pairs in supple fabrics. Traditional Brit brand Dents still reign supreme in the glove department, as shown by this leopard print pair. Lined with luxurious silk, these leather gloves allow for easy texting and guarantee hands are protected from the weather
Don’t neglect your pins when you step out to face the cold and, if not in jeans or trousers, make sure you invest in a thick pair of tights. Established name Falke are the go-to brand for hosiery with a range of patterned and plain pairs which can be worn time and again. These soft merino tights are crafted from a merino wool blend, so feel super soft against the skin and have a subtle stretch. Although available in other colours, we love the red-hued Barolo pair, which look appropriately festive without straying into Christmas elf territory!

Brighten up your look, stay stylish and keep cosy with these essential winter warmers.

I love the scarf and that hat looks ridiculously warm and cosy! Let me know what you think of Cherrie's designer post and if you would splash the cash on any of these little beauts.

Tis the season...

Christmas is almost here which excites me massively! I am a huge Christmas fan and it's the highlight of the gloomy winters we get here in England. Other than the day itself, I love the build up to Christmas and I like trying to think of unique ideas and things I can get my friends and family. Loads of people dread Christmas shopping and find it really stressful to think of gift ideas for people, so here are some of my suggestions:
  • Not on the high street - I heart this website. If you are looking to personalize a gift or find something unique then this is the place to shop. You can search by person, item and occasion and everything I have bought from there has been well received. You also don't have to leave your house in the cold and it supports businesses in Britain which is always something I like. Be sure to check this site out in advance of Christmas as there are a lot of small shops and boutiques, so they need time to post during the Christmas period.
  • Sabo Skirt - This is an Australian clothing brand and I love every single item of clothing on there, seriously. If you have a fashionable friend who doesn't like to shop on the high street then this is a great alternative as not many people will have the same thing.
  • Make something - I say this with caution because if your kinda crud at making stuff then maybe this isn't the best option for you. However, a cute idea is a picture frame filled with some snaps you have taken or some friendship bracelets which are pretty easy to make. You can buy loads of crafty stuff and amazing packaging from esty.com to help your creation come together.
  • Tickets to see something - This is a good option for someone who is difficult to buy for or someone you don't get to see a lot. Also, you get to join in on the gift which is always good obviously.
The best tip I have for figuring out what to get people is to listen, sounds stupid but you will be surprised how many nuggets of information people will give away when you are chatting to them. I have some good ideas myself which I will have to reveal after Christmas so I don't spoil the surprise, but hopefully these have given you some inspiration!
Also, I am soooo excited for the red cups from starbucks - eeek! Emmy x
